On behalf of the membership of Grove Park, let me
welcome you to our website. I hope that you will take a few
moments to get to know us a little better. We recognize that each
individual has unique gifts and talents that make up the church
body. God continues to bless us with new members and I hope
that you will prayerfully consider Grove Park as your church home.
Dr. "Gene" Hunsinger is a native of Gaffney, South
Carolina and graduated from Gaffney High School. He attend
Gardner-Webb Baptist College where he received an Associate in
Arts Degree in 1966. He then went on to Limestone College
where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Dr. Hunsinger had
the opportunity to pastor churches before starting Southeastern
Baptist Theological Seminary in 1969. He received his Master
of Divinity with Languages Degree in 1972 and his Doctor of
Ministry in 1973. Dr. Hunsinger has also completed several
Clinical Pastoral Internships at three different hospitals and has
pastored churches in both North and South Carolina.
Dr. Hunsinger became pastor of Grove Park in December 1998
after completing 17 1/2 years as Senior Minister of the First
Baptist Church in Concord, North Carolina. He has served on
the Associational and State levels of Baptist work and on the
General Board and the Executive Committee of the Baptist State
Convention of North Carolina.
Dr. Hunsinger is married to Mary Thomas Hunsinger and they have
two grown children, Scott and Kristi. Their home is in Elon,
North Carolina. Pictured below are Gene and Mary with their
grandchildren.
